新的特性
- 支持无软盘安装，安装程序会直接把安装文件和启动文件复制到硬盘。
- GUI安装程序会自动检测到您的显卡并尝试适配您的显卡，您还可以安装其他驱动程序以在第一次登录之前使显卡正常运行。
- 新的登录背景，并对登录对话框添加了关机按钮。
- 更多更有趣的新光标样式(恐龙光标样式、立体系列样式、手势系列样式)。
- 为时钟程序引入
CLOCK.AVI，是时钟程序消失之后的残照，一直到Windows Vista Beta 1仍然内置CLOCK.AVI。
注意事项
- 无软盘安装
使用MS-DOS 6.22启动盘对硬盘进行分区和格式化，然后使用“WINNT /B”开始安装。
对于x86版本，如需在Pentium II+中安装，需在GUI安装之前，将C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32下的initial.inf和setup.inf中"" ? $(!LIBHANDLE) GetProcessor改为$(ProcessorID_I586)。
- 现有英文Workstation AXP安装文件并未损坏，
WINNT.A25所在软盘镜像可用undisk解包得到正确文件。
