Do not mark all your edits as "minor"

Hello. I noticed that you mark almost all your edits as "minor". I would like you to stop doing this and only mark the really minor things.

What does apply to minor edits:

  • Correction of typos;
  • Wikification;
  • Minor cosmetic edit;
  • Adding hyperlinks to articles (e.g. Windows 7 → Windows 7);
  • Renames and quick rollbacks (they are automatically flagged);
  • Removing spaces between English and Chinese characters;
  • Adding unused parameters to template;
  • Adding "DISPLAYTITLE" template;
  • Changing the screenshot caption in an article (e.g. Windows 10 v1507 10.0.10005.0.winmain_prs.150125-0130 → Windows 10 10.0.10005.0.winmain_prs.150125-0130)

What does not apply to minor edits:

  • Any changes regarding the content of the article (even if a couple of words are added);
  • Writing a message to other member on his talk page;
  • Cancellations in disputed articles. In the case of an edit war, none of the edits can be considered unimportant, since they will most likely not be so for some users.

Do not overuse the "minor edit" mark.

A contributor who marks his major edits as minor is a bad role model. The fact is that the presence of a mark (especially if a proven, experienced person rules) can mislead many members who, as a result, will not pay due attention to significant editing.

Beginning members, imitating experienced ones, often mark “minor edit” as irrelevant, so it is advisable to check any of their edits - with or without a mark. The mark "minor edit" can be especially harmful when deleting any parts of the text.

This tag is also used in this wiki to filter out major edits from minor ones.

If you're in doubt about whether a change is minor or not, it's always safer not to mark it as minor.

I'm not an administrator, however, I think a lot of the members here will agree with me, and I hope I've helped you figure out when you should tick the "minor edit" checkbox.

Thanks!
